Tink is an interactive app which connects parents of school students and qualified tutors in Egypt, creating social engagement. The app has a gamification aspect where users pay/get paid for their sessions, they can choose to donate a sum of money to contribute to paying for sessions of kids who can't afford the service. The more you give, the more points and rewards you get. In Tink's world, big hearts are the biggest winners.

Education in Egypt has been at a low standard for decades, one of the main factors causing this is the fact that many teachers are given extremely low salaries. As a result, the education they provide is constantly sacrificed. This state of education affects Egypt on a wide scale and is the main cause of the other societal problems as unemployment and poverty.

Therefore, parents and tutors of various classes look for alternatives through private lessons, but for parents it isn't easy to get the best quality. In addition to that, there is a wide social gap between the social classes, and it continues to increase. People living under the poverty line (<50% of the population) find themselves unable to afford the monetary value needed for the service and education as whole.

Case studies
Several tutoring-related applications were studied to better understand what the most common services and functionalities are, for parents/students as well as tutors. The common ones are mainly a filterable search engine to easily find tutors, beside the ability to book, cancel and pay/get paid for sessions and the ability to reach tutors after hours when needed.

In 2016, there are 21 million smartphone user from Egypt's 90+ million population. Since the target group is highly impoverished children who mostly live in informal areas, they definitely wouldn't be of the 21 million who can afford a smartphone, keeping in mind  that 27.8% of the population lives below national poverty line.

Core Features
The core functionalities were picked based on field research (interviews) and talking to various tutors and parents. Basically the app offers a platform for parents to find quality as the app is based on reviews and ratings, safe and affordable tutoring at a standard price for all. It is also a mean for tutors to earn extra income. Therefore, Tink helps in enabling tutors and parents to connect, track their sessions and if they want to donate to get rewarded.
